Castle Grounds
No New Posts The Castle Gardens
A well maintained garden with sweet smelling flowers that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. You'll never see a groundskeeper here at night, and if you think that's one of them, don't go near them. Run away, and run fast. It's said that a black dog roams the grounds at night, with brilliant red eyes; Black Shuck is the name most famously associated with him.

No New Posts The Garden Labyrinth
A gigantic labyrinth created from tall hedges in the outer courtyard, carefully maintained and groomed. It's a great place to play in with the children during the day, but never be caught lost within it at night. The tour guide is not supposed to tell how many tourists lost their minds wandering the labyrinth, but she highly discourages going through it for time's sake.

No New Posts The Grand Fountain
The tour groups are brought around the Fountain that lies before the grand doors of the castle. 'Here,' the tour guide begins, 'Is where at least three recorded deaths occurred. A father discovered his wife was unfaithful, so he drowned her and their two children...' At that point a chill wind blows by, and the howling of children is heard.

No New Posts The Clock Tower
Separate from the castle, a large tower rises up. 'Here,' the tour guide continues, 'Is where the famous suicide of the seventeenth century Lord occurred. The clock was put in place a little before the first World War, but it's thought that this was a place of execution before.' The entire atmosphere surrounding this place is thick with tension and anxiety.

No New Posts The Chapel
A small building set off to the side of the castle, inside modern electricity lights it bright, and pews line from the altar to the back. 'During the Second World War, they couldn't keep a priest here. It was said they'd go mad and pass in the night.' The tour guide looked pale. 'But when they found them, they'd be lying in their bed, clutching his crucifix, and a look of absolute terror written on their face, even in death...'

No New Posts The Old Family Cemetery
The tour guide won't step foot in the picket fence that holds at least twenty old grave stones by the Chapel. 'Five hundred years ago, this is where the Direrain family was buried. Some by natural causes, others... Nothing so peaceful. It's said that our most famous ghost Caleb is buried here,' All of the names are eroded off the stones, but one has what appears to be slash marks from an animal across its surface where a name would be.

No New Posts The Catwalks
Where the guards were sent to post during the first and second World War. The guide does not go up there, due to the failing strength of the rusting catwalks. 'It's mentioned that a soldier hung himself from the catwalk, using the strap of his weapon to hang himself over it.' The guide mentions absently. 'Although nobody sets foot on them for fear of falling, it's said the hung soldier is often heard screaming, then the snap of bone and nothing more...'

Within The Castle Walls
No New Posts The Modernized Kitchen
A Kitchen clean swept and scrubbed of years of cobwebs and filth. Within, high tech ovens and refridgerators have replaced the antiques so that cooks can come in and cook food for the Halloween party. Modern electricity has been run for lighting and to support the demand of power for the upcoming party to take place.

No New Posts The Party Room
Where hospital beds once lined the walls, there are tables, ready to hold treats and drinks of the Halloween party to come. Festive streamers trail from the walls, and cotton cobwebs are dabbled from tables to the floor. Even a stage has been set at the far end of the room that will hold a DJ and his equipment on Halloween night. And are the ghosts happy about this? Not one bit...

No New Posts The Showers
The tour guide seemed to get more pale with each room they passed. 'Here, the prisoners were showered and cleaned. Sometimes these rooms were their death chambers, as the short tempered soldiers would oftentimes beat them to death down here.' Rusty and unused showerheads stick out from the ceiling. 'At night, it is said that these showers turn on on their own so the dead may bathe. We don't see this ourselves, but we notice a great amount of water on the floor in the morning...'

No New Posts The Guard House
'During the First World War, only the ignorant soldiers were able to be posted in this guard house.' The tour guide said. It was a simple room with a table in the center and a chair. A window overlooked the wall of the castle. 'If they did spend the night here, they were either dead or insane by morning...' The floors creaks and groan heavily underfoot, and the door remains wide open, with the tour guide keeping it propped open.

No New Posts The Cellars
'Down these stairs is where ten skeletons were discovered in an excavation of the castle. Nobody knows where they came from, but they were freshly lain, so it's suspected that a serial killer used the story of the hauntings to keep people away from his graveyard...' The tour guide won't go down those stone steps, but she lets others go down and examine the torn earth and still opened graves, missing their skeletons.

No New Posts The Dungeons
'These haven't been used since the castle was built over five hundred years ago.' The tour guide's voice was quiet. All around are museum restored items of torture, more than likely things found there back in the day. An iron maiden, a rack, stocks, shackles... 'It's undocumented how many people met their demise here, but these stones weren't always this brown color...' The guide won't set foot in the dungeon, and the air is stale and thick.

No New Posts The Inner Courtyard
Soft grass blows in the wind, and vines crawl up the inner walls of the castle. And now it's decorated to accomadate the Halloween spirit. Jack-O-Lanterns line the low lying walls, lit with candles at night, and speakers installed so the music from the Party Hall will be played here as well. The lawn as been well trimmed, as have the small bushes all around. The ghosts are everything but happy about this, and often the pumpkins are found destroyed by dawning light.

No New Posts Solitary Confinement
Small rooms line a wall along the inner courtyard, barely large enough for a fully grown man to lie down in. 'Prisoners held here who were more rebellious were shoved into these small cells. Sometimes they were left to starve for several days.' The tour guide was especially jumpy now. 'In the last cell, a man went insane and bit his wrists open, writing cryptic messages on the wall. No matter how many times we powerwash the walls, we can not get them clean...' True to her word, the last cell is covered with old bloody words, most making no sense at all.

The Direrain Village
No New Posts The Haunted Motel
It was built when the castle started to become a tourist attraction, and hoping to gain some fame, it claimed that three people were murdered in separate rooms to further attract ghost hunters. Who knows if it's haunted or not? The rooms are comfortable, but the floors groan and creek horrendously, and sometimes when no one is walking on them.

No New Posts The Ghostly Diner
Just like every other store in the town, the diner hopes to associate with the haunted castle to attract people to eat there. Nothing really happened in the diner, but the coffee's good and the apple pie is just to die for. It's open all night so ghost hunters can come in at any time to eat and recount their tales.

No New Posts Quiet Hills Insane Asylum
Opposite of the castle lies an equally large building with a sprawling lawn, bleach white walls and a pretty sign saying 'Welcome to Quiet Hills.' It's anything but quiet. This is a maximum security facility, where the howls of the insane are almost constant. Many suicides have been documented, and it's quickly becoming as haunted as the Castle. No visitors are allowed, but that doesn't stop the town kids from sneaking in to confirm suspicions of hauntings.

No New Posts The Haunted Library
An extensive library for both research of the paranormal, and a great nonfiction section. After hours, there's not a living soul found within the building, for it's said that there was a grisly murder whilst the library was being constructed, and two bodies lie within the foundation, and their ghosts roam wild throughout.

No New Posts The Residential Area
A small suburb of houses, some little apartments to temporarily house ghost hunters, and others long abandoned due to strange occurrences, including cases of poltergeist, possessions, so on and so on. The children play in the front and back yards with the family dog, but if a ball goes into an abandoned house's yard, it's forgotten.

The Research Facility
No New Posts Direrain Research Facility
A five minute drive from the castle brings one to the Main Research Facility. An elite group of scientists from all around the world converge here, comparing notes, and experimenting on supernatural beings caught from the castle or the asylum. They vow to understand what exactly a ghost is, and how, if possible, to expel or use them for the good of the living.

No New Posts The Experimental Ward
A strong pulse of energy surrounding this ward is said to keep the supernatural either outside, or inside. Inside this ward are large test tubes, where energy pulses through, forcing the creatures trapped inside to show themselves. The scientists perform experiments in here on these supernatural creatures, sometimes things nobody would wish on another. However, there are no ethics regarding ghosts, so everything's legal.

No New Posts The Resting Quarters
The barracks where the scientists lay their heads. Lower ranking scientists live in one large room, while the more important ones get separate rooms. A strong pulse of energy is said to protect them all from vengeful ghosts, but more often than not, they are unguarded from them. It's been said, that many years ago, the power was mysteriously cut, and by dawn, every single person in that room was mad or dead.

No New Posts The Personal Rooms
The higher ranking scientists and their rooms are in another branch of the research facility. They live in small apartments with each and every comfort anyone could ever think of. A better security is set up for them too. The pulses of energy that keep spirits away is set up on its own generator system to keep ghosts out. The only way in those rooms is through possessing the scientist.

No New Posts The Mess Hall
Possibly the most unguarded room of the entire facility, is where the men and women converge to eat. Rumors are passed, along with information of their research. Notes are compared and laughter is abound. The food is good, but don't go snooping for a midnight snack. It's the most unguarded place in the facility so they may capture many a foolish ghost wishing for revenge.

No New Posts The Latrines
Where daily routine begins. Showers, toilets, and sinks line the walls to give a little comfort for the lower ranking scientists. Not as well guarded as it should be; at least six classified cases of murders have been documented, but unreleased to the public. Whether by ghost or by coworker, it's a mystery nobody really wishes to dwell upon.
